Program areas at Coyote Central

Studio Coyote engaged over 1,000 youth ages 10 t o 15 with professional artists, filmmakers, chefs, furniture makers, fashion designers, music producers, animators, dancers, jewelers, writers, and more. Participants learned hands-on skills and drew on their personal and cultural identitiies to design individual projects. Coyote also partnered with local schools to provide enrichment during the school day. Studio Coyote engages youth of wildly different backgrounds in race, culture, economic status, family situation, and abilities in a culture of mutual respect and collaborative discovery. Over half of studio Coyote enrollments every year are by youth who identify as people of color. The public art program engages youth with professional artists to create art works for their community, building social awareness and the pride of community stewaardship in our future leaders. Public art projects take place throughout the year.
Cre8 is a 3 year program for 6th-8th graders. It is designed to build community amongst a cohort of deeply creative kids and provide a deeper dive into the creative process. Cre8 1st year is all about individual growth as an artist. Cre8 2nd year is about group growth as artists who collaborate on work for the public. Cre8 3rd year is about a deep dive exploration of personal creativity. Each student levels-up for one final, year long project supported by a 1:1 mentor in the medium.
Coyote is a sponsor of feed the people, whose mission is to use food as a tool to bridge communities and engage, educate, and create opportunities for youth. Coyote maintains legal control over feed the people and operates feed the people as a program of Coyote. All activity of feed the people is included in these financial statements and all unspent contriutions and grants restricted for the use of feed the people are included in net assets with donor restrictions at the end of the year.
