Proscan pink ribbon programs: the Cris Collinsworth Proscan Fund has access to reach all patients of greater cincinnati through the Proscan pink ribbon centers. The Proscan pink ribbon centers provide patients with screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, dexa and breast ultrasound. In 2023 through the mammomatch program, the Proscan pink ribbon centers provided 253 funded mammograms for low income, uninsured patients. The cruisin' for a cure program provides patients with complimentary transportation to and from appointments at the pink ribbon centers, removing a barrier to receiving breast health services. The pink ribbon empowerment program is a community outreach initiative of the Cris Collinsworth Proscan Fund which promotes education and awareness to all members of the tri-state community, especially those who are low income and uninsured. The pink ribbon bag is a gift sent to women newly diagnosed with breast cancer to provide comfort and support along their healing journey. In 2023, 244 pink ribbon bags were provided. The pink ribbon survivor circle offers newly diagnosed patients the opportunity to talk one-on-one with a survivor who has has a similar diagnosis and also offers survivors education on being a healthy survivor.
Queen city classic chess programs: the queen city classic chess tournament is an annual event which creates and oppurtunity for children to challenge their minds while competing against other students regardless of their physical or economic limitations. This event also provides chess players the oppurtunity to learn from and compete against some of the greatest chess masters and grandmasters in the world. The qcc tournament returned to in-person play in 2023. There were 558 students ranging from grades k-12 who participated in the tournament. To ensure that any student with interest can participate in the tournament, the Cris Collinsworth Proscan Fund offers a discounted registration fee for students who meet the established guidelines. Chess teaches kids essential life skills such as critical and strategic thinking, understanding of cause and effect and planning for different outcomes, academic discipline, patience and good sportsmanship. As a way of exposing as many students as possible to chess, the chess instructors teach chess to children in local cincinnati public and other area schools during the school day, after school programs, summer camps and the online chess club. In 2023 qcc provided in-person teaching to approximately 2,250 students in 59 schools and programs with 3,218 instruction hours throughout the year.
