Victims of crime - Crisis Intervention & Advocacy Center (ciac) uses these funds to unite communities in support of sexual abuse and domestic abuse victims in a ten-county service area. The funds finance certified advocates to provide direct service to survivors in addition to training and technical assistance provided ongoing to local professionals. Trained advocates provide acute Crisis response, long term Advocacy and explore healing opportunities for victims, secondary victims, and communities. Through this work the agency raises awareness and increases community capacity to support victims of crime.
Rural victims - ciac provides increase access for rural victims of rural domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking in seven rural counties. This program enables staff to be dedicated to rural victim needs exclusively and provide law enforcement and county attorney training and education regarding trauma-informed investigations and prosecution. Ciac increases rural community involvement and works to increase the capacity of limited rural hospital resources. Through direct services, training system-based professionals and community engagement, ciac will enhance victim services in these rural counties and provide more options for rural victims.
Homeless prevention - ciac provides short and medium term rental assistance to survivors of trauma who are experiencing homelessness. In addition to the rental assistance, survivors receive ongoing support from certified housing advocates who guide individuals and families through homelessness, locating housing, securing housing and accessing community supports to maintain safe housing. Services also include employment search, financial Advocacy and healing opportunities. This funding enables the housing advocates to be local experts and coordinate landlord/tenant relationships, ensure habitability standards are maintained and engage communities to end homelessness.
