Program areas at Crossroads of the American Revolution
Crossroads launched "10 crucial days", the first in a series of planned downloadable audio tours to expose drivers to stories in nj's revolutionary-era heritage. the gps-triggered tour can be downloaded on smartphones to be taken as a driving tour or can be accessed via tablets & desktop computers. Offered both in english & spanish, and stopping at several historic sites, the tour tells the story of the continental army's journey from the 1776 Delaware river crossing in trenton to the battle of princeton, including 1st person accounts from those who participated.
Completion of a report recommending the construction of a revolutionary war experirence center in trenton. the experience center would showcase nj's relatively unknown, yet significant role,in the American Revolution. the proposed state-of-the-art facility would exceed the expectation of today's travelers and establish nj as an important stop between Pennsylvania and new york as visitors explore other key revolutionary war attractions in the the state and region.
Crossroads continued its planning activities with the nj historical commission as the nonprofit partner in the revolutionnj public-private partnership created to plan the state's commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the united states.
Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore the impact of the American Revolution. General George Washington spent more than one-quarter of his time as Commander-in-Chief in New Jersey, establishing dozens of headquarters here during the course of the war.
