Program areas at Cultural Wellness Center
Member services: cwc works with people and families to apply the Cultural Wellness process to address challenges resulting from isolation, loss of community, and loss of culture. This is our core mission work. While member services does not appear to generate positive revenue when examined in isolation, the knowledge produced is what gives cwc authority and makes other areas of work valuable to customers.invisible college: cwc applies the Cultural Wellness process to improve institutional outcomes in underserved communities.see schedule o for remaining program languagethrough classes, coaching, and consulting, institutional leadership and stakeholders study the role of culture as a tool to navigate institutional systems. In 2021, customers included ramsey county,mcknight foundation, project for pride in living, minneapolis institute of arts, community catalyst, and others. Health institute: cwc performed highest among agencies contracted by mn dept of health to reduce disparities in covid-19 infections, hospitalizations, and deaths. In the backyard health hub supported by allina health, 200 people participated virtually in culture well learning cohorts. Thousands attended online meditation, zumba and movement classes. Cwc worked with hennepin county's redleaf clinic to develop training cohorts for black doulas.other: cwc began a capital campaign for dreamland on 38th, a facility to house cwc headquarters and a co-kitchen where black food entrepreneurs will share kitchen space while receiving mentoring and peer support in culturally-rooted food, business planning, finance, permitting, and management. With an anonymous donation, cwc began development of the ancient grains kitchen within the midtown global market to offer healthy soul food, nutrition and cooking classes, and catering services that support all areas of cwc work.
