Program areas at Dana Adobe and Cultural Center
Danas primary programs include our field trips, heritage day, sunday speaker series, tamale cooking classes, museum exhibits, and docent led visitor experiences of the California rancho era.
Naturefest focuses on engaging both children and adults in the local community to learn and engage with the local ecosystem and fostering environmental stewardship. The event features nature-centered arts & crafts activities, guided hikes, presentations, local vendors, food booths, tours of the historic Adobe.
THE DANA MISSION HERITAGE VINEYARDTHE VINEYARD IS COMPOSED OF TWENTY-TWO GRAPE VINES DIRECTLY DESCENDED FROM CALIFORNIAS MOTHER VINE AT MISSION SAN GABRIEL. THE GRAPE, IDENTIFIED AS LISTÁN PRIETO, WAS DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT ALTA CALIFORNIA BY THE FRANCISCAN PADRES, INCLUDING AT BOTH MISSION SAN LUIS OBISPO DE TOLOSA AND SAN MIGUEL ARCANGEL. THE NEW VINEYARD IN NIPOMO IS THOUGHT TO BE THE LARGEST NON-COMMERCIAL MISSION GRAPE VINEYARD IN CALIFORNIA.
Dana summer camp offers fun and creative ways for children to learn about the California rancho era, chumash culture, and nature education, along with other fun outdoor activities.
