Maine's physician executive leadership institute (peli) provides two distinct leadership development courses that cover the same core competencies at different levels of depth and with different experiential learning opportunities. The peli foundational course brings together physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants within an organization or across related organizations to learn theory, tools and skills regarding both management and leadership, customized to the hosting healthcare entity's needs. The peli foundational course occurs over six sessions spread across 10-12 months and provides 40 category one cmes to participants. The peli advanced course is an intensive, national caliber professional development experience. The physician participants who complete the advanced course leave with a significantly enhanced capacity to lead healthcare organizations toward achieving the triple aim: improved patient experience, improved Health outcome and lower healthcare costs. The peli advanced course occurs over six residential sessions spread across 12 months and provides 80 category one cpes to participants.
The Health leadership development program (hld) brings together a diverse mix of experienced leaders from a wide range of Health and healthcare settings and professions to build their individual collaborative leadership skills and prepare them to lead efforts aimed at improving the quality of our healthcare delivery system. While the participants come from different backgrounds and communities, they share a deep commitment to making a difference in Maine. Graduates of this program bring new facilitative leadership skills and tools back to their home organizations and communities enabling improved collaboration, teamwork and transparency to further their work.
The Daniel Hanley Center for Health leadership conducts other programs, including convening stakeholders for collaborative solutions in forums and other meetings, an undergraduate leadership internship program, and a dyad leadership development course.
