Program areas at Daughters of the American Revolution - Ohio Society Dar
The Ohio Society Daughters of the American Revolution hold fall forums for members in the various chapters to bring the membership to date on national and Ohio Dar activities and events. Increase in membership is also emphasized. State conference is held annually and includes participation by the Ohio chapters in decision making of the organization including bylaw revisions. The Ohio society encourages attendance at continental congress to take advantage of the opportunity to share in the patriotic activities and events nationally (participation includes more than 900 members and prospective members).
Christian Waldschmidt Homestead (Camp Dennison, OH) A historic Pennsylvania Dutch fieldstone house was built in 1804 by Revolutionary War Veteran Christian Waldschmidt. That home and a smaller stone house building for Christian Waldschmidt's daughter are open to the public on Sundays from May to October. The Christian Waldschmidt homestead is managed by DAR volunteers. The majority of the funding for the upkeep come from the Ohio DAR member dues as well as donations and investment income (more than 1,500 individuals are involved annually in tours and activities).
Ohio chapters send contributions for projects relating to the National Society including the President general project, National Junior projects, DAR approved schools, NSDAR newsletter relating to Ohio activities and historical projects, project patriot and other projects of the National Society. The Ohio Society has contributed state regent project funds and individual chapter contributions to the National Society.
