Program areas at Davidson Lands Conservancy
Davidson Lands Conservancys (DLC) core mission is Land Conservation and Stewardship. We work with landowners in the Davidson, NC area to permanently protect and to steward land. This work benefits water quality, open space, wildlife habitat, tree canopy, and greenway connectivity, as well as our sense of community and place. The work helps mitigate climate change. DLC also promotes greenways and trails to enhance recreation, connectivity, and conservation of riparian corridors.
DLC promotes a conservation ethic through its Education Programs aimed at children, residents, landowners, elected officials, and others about the value and importance of conservation and the benefits and proper care of land and all natural resources. Education is core to everything the Conservancy does and our related programs include outings, hosting a conservation educational class, newsletter, social media and other channels.
DLC preserves and enhances the community tree canopy, urban forest and wildlife habitat through TreesDavidson and wildlife habitat programs. These are science-based programs to preserve, plant and care for trees and native plants. Program benefits include, cooler streets, parking lots, and buildings, natural beauty, better air and water quality, and wildlife habitat. The program includes TreesDavidson and Treasure Tree initiatives.
