Program areas at Dawson County Family Connection
The Family stability initiative is focused on children and families with outcomes that will reduce child abuse and neglect. It also focuses on supporting kinship care and foster families. This includes: the Family stability strategy team, comprised of key stakeholders within the community, to evaluate the risk factors associated with child abuse/neglect and create a blue print of how to address those identified risks in order to improve Family stability; annual meet and greet for school staff and key community stakeholders; the foster Family association/support group;promotion of community advocacy for foster families along with other outreach events.
Broaden community partnerships and strengthen community collaboration to help meet the needs of Dawson County children and their families in a timely, effective, and caring manner.
Mental wellness program contains several strategies of service. The organization facilitated the creation, and continues to faciliate, a mental wellness coalition. This coalition is comprised of many agencies who seek to assess and address the needs of our community. Some of the activities include the organizations suicide prevention campaign, mental health awareness month campaign, the development of a youth mental wellness coalition, creation of a mental wellness brochure, community assessment, homeless resource card, annual teen maze, secondary traumatic stress training, monthly mental wellness webinars, and a resource fair event.
