Description
The DC Preservation League, founded in 1971 as “Don’t Tear It Down,” is a not-for-profit, member-supported organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Washington’s legacy of historic buildings and open spaces so that future generations can enjoy them. The League helped draft the City’s 1978 historic preservation law, one of the strongest in the country. Through the League’s efforts, the Old Post Office, the Willard Hotel, the Warner Theater, The Greyhound Bus Terminal, and many other important buildings throughout the City have been saved from demolition.
