Program areas at Destination Hilo
Hilo bay blast 4th of july 2023. Funds were provided and expensed to partially cover the cost of fireworks display.
Hilo hula tuesdays at the bandstand returned to the bandstand following the pandemic. During the fiscal year, there were 28 events and over 3,000 people attended Hilo hula tuesdays.
During 2022-23, Hilo harbor welcomed 281,385 passengers and crew. The information center at the Hilo pier 1 terminal building assisted 14,787 passengers who were provided free transportation to downtown Hilo on vans provided by the farmers' market and one tour company. Thousands of other passengers were also assisted at the information center by our aloha ambassadors, providing directions and suggestions for things to do during their day in Hilo.
