Detroit Heals Detroit would like to introduce our Youth-led Healing Justice Curriculum. We have created this outstanding curriculum for the students of Detroit and it has been nothing short of a success with Student Achievement increase by 52 In fiscal year 2022, we had 604 students who participated. The students co-designed and co-led this intentional movement away from adults and it has proven to be a huge success with 88 of students reporting that since the commencement of the curriculum, they now have better coping strategies to help combat their trauma and student positive behavior increased by 67. The phenomenal numbers don't lie and proves that they're coping strategies have improved based on a 33 decrease in school suspensions and disciplinary referrals. Student engagement has increased by 49. Student absenteeism has decreased by 28. Moreover, a whopping 89 of Education Practitioners reported stronger relationships with students. Youth-led Healing Justice deals head-on with social justice issues, race-based affinity healing spaces and youth-only SEL affinity spaces.
