Program areas at Directors Academy
Nextgen director program the Academy provides corporate governance education and training for future corporate board members from diverse backgrounds who are underrepresented on boards of Directors via a nextgen director program to better prepare themselves for their first corporate board experience. The program is practitioner led with a faculty of 15-20 experienced board leaders from a wide variety of public and private companies. The two day program covers a full range of corporate director duties and responsibilities, the work of the full board and each board committee, interactive board cases and governance best practice exchange. In addition, the class participants refine their board value propositions and meet with board leaders to broaden their network and sharpen their ability to connect with key decision makers. As part of the program, each class member is provided an opportunity to build relationships with existing board leaders and further refine their specific board interests. We plan to identify and develope approximately 100 future diverse Directors each year across the u.s.
Corporate governance research the Academy conducts corporate governance best practice benchmarking and other research initiatives for a variety of board types and industry sectors. The research efforts are designed to enhance board performance and overall enterprise value creation capture.
Board leaders program the board leaders program is designed to accelerate the advancement of diverse Directors into board leadership roles. The program will be comprised of current diverse board members who aspire to become future board committee chairs, lead Directors and chairman of the board. Each class curriculum includes exposure to a comprehensive board leadership model that includes key structural, operational and cultural drivers of board performance - for the full board and each committee. The curriculum incorporates a strong shareholder-centric focus and the benefits of a purpose-driven business model. The program will be led by a group of current public and private company board leaders with significant corporate governance experience. Over time, the board leaders program will become integrated with the nextgen Directors program to provide a seamless development process for future diverse board members.
