Disability Rights California defends, advances, and strengthens the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities. It provides program services to promote the rights of, and advocacy for, persons with disabilities through protection & advocacy of individual rights (PAIR), protection & advocacy for traumatic brain injury (PATBI), protection & advocacy for beneficiaries. Additionally, Disability Rights California's Office of Clients Rights Advocacy (OCRA) offers legal information, advice, and representation to consumers of the 21 State Regional Centers.

The protection & advocacy for individuals with mental illness (paimi) grant, funded by the u.s. department of health and human services substance abuse and mental health services administration, provides funding for drc's work to provide legal assistance and representation to individuals with mental illness.
