Program areas at District Commons
Community initiatives District Commons supported a number of community initiatives to offer commons-based approaches to the positive evolution of humanity. These include projects with and for formerly incarcerated people, projects that create harm prevention and harm response for sexual and gender violence in communities, and projects that help bring communities together.
Commons-based knowledge sharing and research in 2023, District Commons supported several knowledge sharing sessions across multiple digital platforms. These included digital reading groups, knowledge-sharing slack channels and more, all of which are free to the public and community members. District Commons also supported the organizing of a conference on community living called the community living wisdom exchange as part of its fiscal sponsorship programs.
Free spaces as part of the District Commons free spaces program, District Commons ran the radical reading room, which hosts quiet reading hours, co-working, and educational events several days a week.
