Program areas at Diverse Educational Life Training Activities
Excellence Literacy: Reading Program:Partnered with local organization to impact the lives of at risk students in Northwest Huntsville area through programs that provided mentorship academic support reading and math focused tutoring. Students in grades K-8th participated in programs designed to enhance reading abilities and increase comprehension skills; and to develop good study habits to improve their overall proficiency. Participants: DIVEIN! - 30; A-STEP - 75; and Growth Camp - 25.
Education Excellence Children's Reading Hour: Continued efforts to support literacy development in children by improving proficiency and encouraging a love for reading at an early age. The Children's Reading hour returned to full in-person monthly sessions during the school term. Each first Saturday in the month volunteers gathered at the Searcy Homes to read with local children share a crafts and provide lunch. Each child received a copy of the book to read along with the reader and to take home. Monthly Participation: 20 - 25 children plus 10+ support persons.
Education Excellence Book Stipends: Provided Book Stipends to fifteen 15 four-year scholars participating in the annual Delta Honors Program; $600 stipends to the top GPA three 3 scholars and $400 books stipends to the remaining twelve 12 scholars . Over 225 A B honor roll students participated in the in-person program with approximately 200 parents and supporters.
