Program areas at Domestic Violence Action Center
Dvac's legal team provides civil legal services for survivors, consisting of complex and potentially lethal divorce, restraining order, paternity, and post-decree matters. Fy2023 the legal team received 217 legal representation requests, opened 180 cases, closed 167 cases, made 161 court appearances, conducted 94 risk assessments, and completed 94 safety plans.
Tap808 offers education about teen relationship Violence, promotes health relationships, and alerts youth to warning signs of relationship Violence. In fy2023, tap808 conducted 57 community/school visits, delivered 185 youth presentations reaching 4,997 youth participants, conducted 149 risk assessments, and completed 162 safety plans.
Alaka'i advocates provide intensive support to survivors of family Violence on o'ahu. In addition to core support (long-term advocacy, risk assessments, safety plans) they also provide access to emergency financial assistance and referrals to other community resources. Fy2023, advocates opened 293 cases, closed 297 cases, made 103 court/appt. Accompaniments, conducted 1,397 risk assessments, and completed 1,496 safety plans. Housing: the main objective of dvac's supportive housing program for survivors of Domestic Violence is to reduce the risk of becoming homeless for island families harmed by abuse. Apartments and shared group housing is available, with the full array of agency services available to these families. From april 2020 to present , dvac's supportive housing program serviced 45 adults and 65 children.
