The Domestic Violence Resource Center (dvrc) takes an integrated approach to providing empowering programs and services to survivors/victims of Domestic Violence. Dvrc has three main program components that provide free and confidential services to survivors/victims of Domestic and intimate partner Violence. The three program components are: advocacy & empowerment; counseling; and housing. 1. Housing - the housing component offers three types of shelter/housing programs. They are: emergency crisis shelter (monika's house); transitional housing (mary mac house); and, permanent supportive housing (sojourner's house). Dvrc's housing programs provide wrap-around support services that meet the very specific needs of Domestic Violence survivors/victims. 2. Counseling - the counseling program provides individual and group therapy services to survivors/victims of Domestic Violence and their children ages 5 years and older. The counseling program also provides services to adolescents who have experienced teen dating Violence. Additionally, the counseling program provides outreach programs to educate the community by presenting information about Domestic Violence, teen dating Violence and the effects of Domestic Violence on children. This past year the counseling program expanded psycho-educational groups offered, including a culturally specific group for spanish speaking survivors. 3. Advocacy & empowerment - the advocacy& empowerment program assists clients with filing assistance for protective orders, court accompaniment, safety planning, crisis intervention & case management, information & Resource referral, dhs client advocacy, as well as outreach to culturally specific communities (south asian women, latin x & lgbtq).
