Program areas at Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy
General Park planning and capital projectsin partnership with the city of raleigh, Dix Park Conservancy accomplished:- completed the design and started the construction of the gipson play plaza, a grand entrance plaza and destination adventure play area.-started the renovation of several stone cottages at the entrance to the Park- design and construction of early impact capital projects to improve the daily visitor experience at the Park, e.g. Shelters, play equipment, benches.- support planning efforts around implementation of other phases of the master plan.
Community engagement and programs:general Park planning and capital projects:in partnership with the city of raleigh, Dix Park accomplished:957,076 visitors to Dix Park.- 14 events with 117,940 attendees. Ex. Falling for local, yappy hour, movies on the lawn, inter-tribal pow wow- 181 programs with 9383 attendees. Ex. Birdwatching, civil war hike, plant pals, playdates, etc.- 9 activations with 197,400 attendee. Ex. Disc golf, pop up exhibits, sunflowers- hosted a 3rd dreamville festival in april 2023. This two-day, 3rd party event, brought in 100,000 attendees from 50 states and 23 countries and generated over $100m in economic impact to the region.hosted the city of raleigh's 4th of july fireworks event for the first time, with over 20,000 community members.
