Program areas at Douglas Forest Protective Association
Wildland firefighting is our main purpose. If a landowner, equipment operator, or individual is found to be willfully malicious, or negligen, we will bill for all or possibly only extra costs in fighting the fire. The revenue received is for fires that were billable.
Douglas Forest Protective Association received grants for variou projects, road signing, water hole inventories, wildland urban interface sudies, fuel reduction, emergency services, and automated smoke detection cameras.
Special projects are performed in our off season for landowners and others, such as: fuels reduction, snow plowing, tree planting and inspections, etc. These projects are done in order that we can keep our seasonal workers on for the winter month; enabling us to retain trained fire fighters. This work is done at cost.
