Program areas at Dove House Advocacy Services
Emergency housing for victims of domestic violence. Families fleeing domestic violence can stay for up to 90 days in our confidential emergency 24-hour shelter where all of their basic needs are supplied by Dove House. When there is no room in the shelter, we often provide one or more nights in a hotel to an individual or family fleeing a dangerous situation. All of our clients receive the full spectrum of our Services.
Legal Advocacy. Our legal advocate provides personal support and assistance to ensure that victims' interests are represented, and their rights upheld, within the civil and criminal justice systems, including administrative hearings. The legal advocate educates and assists victims about navigating the justice system; evaluating the pros and cons of participating in the legal process; supports access to legal participation; and promotes victims' choices and rights within the legal system. Because Dove House also serves victims of any crime, our legal advocate also assists clients who have experienced elder abuse, burglary, identity theft, fraud, etc. To navigate the law enforcement and criminal justice systems.
Support Services and resources for survivors of sexual violence, including adults who were victims as childern. We respond to hospital calls, have a sexual assault therapist on staff; and our offices have a forensic interview facility. Victims of sexual assault receive Advocacy Services; help finding resources to support recovery; and support in rebuilding their self-esteem and lives following the trauma and disruption of assault. Support groups and classes are open to our sexual assault clients.
