Program areas at Down Syndrome Association of Houston
Nurtures lifelong learning in adults with Down syndrome. Our program offers instruction training & coaching in the areas of basic living community participation and home academic and pre-vocational skills. In behavior behavior modeling instruction & coaching are provided to address problematic behaviors that prevent & inhibit individual success and performance. Our program was scheduled 5 days a week from 8am to 6pm. Program has been discontinued due to low attendance during COVID that has never recovered. Program was closed on Oct 31 2022
Organize various social educational & community group events World Down syndrome day Star retreat holiday party pool party Halloween party Christmas with Santa Coffee & Conversation Run for a Reason etc and provide baskets of helpful items and literature for new born children with Down syndrome
Organize annual Buddy Walk festival to raise public awareness for individuals with Down syndrome and provide opportunity to enhance the quality of their lives and become accepted as a part of our very diverse community.
