Marketing and promotion expenses are to promote the Downtown Overland Park area and the local businesses. This includes banners, all types of media advertising, and promotion costs, web site design and updates, etc. These expenses include consultant expenses to help direct advertising and sponsorship.
Mayors tree lighting annual ceremony that brings in a tree to be lit for the holidays. Christmas lights are also strung throughout the Downtown area. Promotes holiday shopping for local vendors. This event is attended by visitors and local patrons and includes hayrides, musical entertainment, and food. Other events are the fall festival and halloween trick-or- treat.
Provides for advertising and promotions of a farmers market. Operations for the market are handled by the city of Overland Park. Promotions included banners, media, demonstrations and musical entertainment. Demonstrations were held for canning and cooking.
