Organized a coalition to work on international drug policy, in preparation for a major UN drug session in April, and did continuing work at the UN. Coordinated a sign-on letter to President Obama related to the UN session. Participated in a March meeting of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs at the UN in Vienna, and and events on HIV/AIDS and development at UN headquarters in New York. Successfully completed the application process for Special Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Did initial work related to the human rights crisis in the drug war in the Philippines.

Supported lobbying on drug policy reform issues, primarily of Congress, through a grant to our 501(c)(4) affiliate organization, Drug Reform Coordination Network. This work includes organizing a coalition to lobby policymakers on US international drug policy, online write-to-Congress web forms and accompanying email action alerts, and recruitment of organizations onto sign-on letters directed to Congress.

Published 41 issues of our acclaimed online drug policy newsletter, Drug War Chronicle.

Published a blog and published other information on our web site, communicated with the media, and engaged in other continuing educational work over the course of the year. We also did preparatory work for a US-based campaign on international drug policy.
