Nutrition program: dscc/ksc's nutrition programs include both home delivered meals (meals on wheels) and community dining. Home delivered meals (meals on wheels) are packed and delivered weekly to frail and homebound seniors. In addition to a meal, community dining sites provide opportunities for older adults to socialize and participate in activities. All meals served are balanced, nutritious, and meet special dietary needs required, such as low salt, vegetarian, diabetic, renal, puree, and mechanical soft. Each meal is equivalent to 1/3 of the dietary reference intake for adults 60 and over. Dscc also provides health and wellness education on topics pertinent to older adult lifestyles. During fy2023, dscc/ksc served approximately 6,255 seniors through 521,430 meals. Federal and state grants consist of the older americans act. Well-being program (provided with all of our programs): dscc/ksc volunteers and staff conduct a well-being check with each service delivery. The well-being check includes noting changes in a Senior's physical or mental health.
