Program areas at DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform
Community planning - in fy24, four quarterly council of community leaders meetings took place. We hosted an immigrant integration forum to discuss ways to increase organizational and staff capacity with 176 attendees. 86% of attendee survey responses estimateagreed or strongly agreed that they learned practices to use locally. In fy24, we participated in over 20 community planning, policy, and advocacy collaboration events. We provided public testimony to Illinois department of public health (idph) regarding state health improvement plan (ship) advocating for data disaggregation to support local public planning and crisis response, with special emphasis on partnership with community members with ancestry in the middle east or north africa. In addition, we provided to testimony to Illinois department of healthcare and family Services (idhfs), joint commission on administrative rules, office of the governor, and an idhfs public hearing. In 2024, we participated in and organized community engagement on housing affordability for the county's foreveryonehome project.
Public benefits access - in fy24, over 1,162 individuals have been reached with training, including the making the connection: public benefits training, tta special topic webinars, and navigating benefits for non-citizens. There were 2,194 views of our on-demand video webinars, including manage my case - state of Illinois on-line benefits accounts, health benefits for immigrants age 65+, immigrant eligibility: snap & cash assistance, abe 2021, and medicaid redetermination training. 604 individuals attended one or more of 21 live, virtual training sessions, including medicaid redetermination, public benfits for non-citizens, etc. In fy24, we provided individualized technical assistance to over 11 consumers and providers working with complex benefits case issues.
Language access resource center - in fy24, larc provided interpretation in more than 7,832 appointments, including over 2,366 virtual meetings, providing an estimated 9,420 hours of interpretation Services. Larc currently offers Services in 42 languages, including american sign language (asl). Our externs provided over 1,160 hours of free Services to community partners. In fy24, larc completed and delivered over 860,000 translated words. In addition, larc continued to update its live interpreter training program materials and facilitate interpreter training classes. In fy24, 166 individuals attended the classroom portion of the interpreter training program, with 54 students earning their certificate of completion. In addition, 282 trained interpreters attended professional development workshops. Larc provided 1,160 hours of free interpretation service through externs.
