Program areas at DuPage Federation on Human Services Reform
Community planning - in fy23, four quarterly council of community leaders meetings took place. We hosted an immigrant integration forum to discuss strategies for sustaining health care post-pandemic with 100 attendees. Attendee survey responses estimate 34,000 immigrants will benefit from attending this year's forum, with an estimated reach of 374,600 immigrants. In fy23, we hosted or co-hosted 13 community planning events, including a presentation about our work and governance to nonprofit leaders from the country of Georgia at the invitation of the council of international programs-chicago. In fy23, we joined the arise cohort of Illinois communities to develop stronger coalitions and strategies for pandemic recovery, to educate community members (mpx town hall event), and to establish trauma-informed and anti-racist practices for building trust through training with muslim anti-racism coalition.
Training and technical assistance - in fy23, over 2,000 individuals have been reached with training, including the making the connection: public benefits training, tta special topic webinars, and navigating benefits for non-citizens. 1,252 individuals attended on-demand video recordings, including manage my case - state of Illinois on-line benefits accounts, and immigrant eligibility for supplemental nutrition assistance program (snap) and temporary assistance for needy families (tanf), and application for benefits eligibility (abe) state of Illinois enrollment system. In fy23, we provided individualized technical assistance to 22 consumers and providers working with complex benefits case issues. In fy23, 718 individuals attended one or more of 16 live, virtual training sessions, including medicaid redetermination resumption, public benefits for non-citizens, public benefits and victims of trafficking torture and others serious crimes (vttc), and public benefits for older adults. In addition, in fy23, 143 individuals engaged with on-demand, self-paced modules about public benefits.
Language access resource center - in fy23, larc provided interpretation in more than 6,400 appointments, including over 1,100 virtual meetings, consisting of close to 14,500 hours of interpretation. Larc currently offers Services in 47 languages, including american sign language (asl). Our externs provided over 1,800 hours of free Services to community partners. In fy23, larc completed and delivered 492,000 translated words. In addition, larc continued to update its live interpreter training program materials and facilitate interpreter training classes. In fy23, 107 individuals completed the classroom portion of the interpreter training program and 80 students received certificates of completion of the interpreter training program. In addition, in fy23 larc provided 11 professional development workshops for interpreters with 301 attendees.
