Dyslexia Center of Austin provides comprehensive, reduced-rate educational evaluations for dyslexia and other learning differences. An educational evaluation can determine the presence of specific learning disabilities that may be contributing to a challenging educational experience. The process involves gathering information from various sources and formal testing methods. The data collected is used to gain a comprehensive understanding of a student's strengths and weaknesses to make an accurate diagnosis, if appropriate. The formal report includes recommendations and strategies to help a student overcome challenges and achieve goals, as well as any testing and/or classroom accommodations that should be considered. Dyslexia of Center of Austin's educational evaluations meets the criteria for application to the college board for accommodations on standardized college admissions tests (SAT, ACT, etc.) as well as the criteria for universities and colleges needing documentation for the provision of an accommodations plan. Dyslexia Center of Austin's team of Educational Diagnosticians, who are also Certified Academic Language Therapists and Texas Licensed Dyslexia Therapists, have a deep-rooted understanding of dyslexia and other learning differences, the identification process, and remediation/intervention needed to help a student reach their full potential. Since launching the program in 2020, the Dyslexia Center of Austin has provided educational evaluations to over 130 students and individuals. Dyslexia Center of Austin also offers educational evaluation scholarships to families who demonstrate financial need.
Dyslexia Center of Austin provides no-cost dyslexia therapy to students in underserved circumstances via After School Programs, directly impacting students with the most significant need and helping change the trajectory of their lives.
Dyslexia Center of Austin provides multimodal, structured language training for teachers and dyslexia therapists to provide evidence-based dyslexia intervention. Dyslexia Center of Austin adheres to the high professional and ethical standards established by International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC), with therapist and instructor certification conferred by the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA). Dyslexia Center of Austin's Dyslexia Therapist Training Program is a two-year multimodal, structured language training curriculum for individuals interested in being Certified Academic Language Therapists and Texas Licensed Dyslexia Therapists. This comprehensive program uses Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia (Take Flight), a curriculum written by the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at the Scottish Rite for Children. The Dyslexia Therapist Training Program is accredited by IMSLEC, meets the requirements for Texas licensure, and meets the criteria for membership in ALTA. Since starting in 2014, the Dyslexia Center of Austin has graduated/is training over 200 educators as Certified Academic Language Therapists. Dyslexia Center of Austin also offers educator scholarships to qualifying participants in the Dyslexia Therapist Training Program. The Dyslexia Center of Austin offers additional training courses for teachers and dyslexia therapists to help them provide evidence-based dyslexia intervention, including Build: A K-1 Early Reading Intervention, Pre-Flight, Take Flight Retraining, and Rite-Flight. In addition, the Dyslexia Center of Austin has a Qualified Instructor Training Program for Certified Academic Language Therapists interested in becoming instructors of the Dyslexia Therapist Training Program.
