Mid-hudson children's museum during 2009, The Foundation became aware that The mid-hudson children's museum was facing economic difficulties. In 2010, halcyon holdings obtained approval from The new york state attorney general's office to purchase The building and concurrently lease The property back to The museum to help alleviate some of The economic hardship The museum was facing, also ascertaining The property would continue to serve a charitable purpose. The related expenses are used to offset The related rental income.
Upper landing park The upper landing site was purchased from The city of poughkeepsie. The city was not in The financial position to rehabilitate The property and with other waterfront development being planned, purchasing The property was The only way to ascertain that it would add to rather than detract from The overall waterfront development plan. The property was renovated and opened as a public park for The area residents in 2013, contributing to The economic development begun by The walkway over The hudson, since it serves as The main entrance to The new waterfront elevator. The property came with a 99 year lease on The parking lot for mta employees. The parking lot also serves park visitors on weekends and The metro north train station serves tourists arriving in The area. The rental income from mta offsets The cost of maintaining The public park.
