2021 programs included: 1.alliance for a climate resilient Earth (acre) is a project developed by Earth Council in association with the stimson institute. Acre and the american society of civil engineers. The project/ cities and countries are experiencing the devastating impacts of hurricanes, floods, wildfires, droughts, sea level rise, and extreme weather events. Lives, property, houses, infrastructure, ecosystems, and livelihoods are endangered. The project focuses on developing climate resilient infrastructure solutions to the climate crisis. 2.direct air capture (dac) climate workshops, summit & report: Earth Council worked with the elk coast institute to convene 72 experts, representing the leading co2 direct air capture (dac) companies and experts in co2 utilization, financing of emerging technology, climate- related policy, and outreach to stakeholders. The project culminated in the mobilize now summit and report articulating the need to act with a sense of urgency based upon the evaluation of the need for carbon dioxide removal (cdr) to avoid catastrophic climate change. 3.xiye bastida, youth and indigenous people climate justice project. Earth Council supports the work of xiye bastida to organize and advocate for indigenous peoples climate justice and participation of youth at major events hosted by the united nations. The project includes multimedia documentation of xiyes work with video, print and social media. 4.sea shepherd is a 40 year old Us non-profit organization dedicated to protecting ocean wildlife and ecosystems from overfishing, habitat loss and climate change impacts. Earth Council Foundation received a 50k grant from john swift - through hs schwab charitable fund to support development and production of a documentary film series about sea shepherd. 5.supported the work of the hawaii-based nonprofit blue planet alliance to support local communities to develop and access renewable energy programs. The project serves as a model for other small island nations in the pacific and caribbean to develop similar projects. 6.support the work of projects for good, an online crowdfunding platform that allows non-profit organizations to post projects and secure funding from individuals and organizations to support their projects.
