Program areas at EarthGen
Climate education: Earthgen provides professional development and resources for educators to teach students about climate change, its local impacts, and solutions. Driven by the state science standards, the program strengthens students and teachers' knowledge and skills. Earthgen collaborates with educators, school districts, scientists, and community partners to make climate change learning and action accessible and relevant for youth and communities across the state.
Stormwater stewards: stormwater stewards build students' knowledge of their local watersheds and sources of pollution and designs green stormwater solutions that improve community health. Teachers receive resources and training, and students connect with professionals from environmental careers. Select schools' partner with Earthgen to install green stormwater infrastructure projects, such as rain gardens, on school campuses.
Environmental science units: Earthgen's science units help promote equitable access to environmental and climate science education for historically underserved students and school communities. They are designed to help teachers increase students' environmental literacy and build their critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving skills in culturally relevant ways.
Green schools certification: the schools certification program supports students to lead environmental action projects in their schools and communities. From reducing waste to cultivating gardens, certification projects engage the whole school community in advancing environmental sustainability. With resources from Earthgen to complete the process, schools receive recognition and rewards when they certify at one or more levels.
