The Cinderella Affair has been providing prom dresses to local Junior and Senior High School students since 2002. Over 16,200 dresses and accessories have been provided in total since the program began. The young ladies may also select shoes, purses and jewelry to complete their prom look, making a once in a lifetime event affordable. Approximately two thirds of our students are either special needs or from Title I schools. Volunteers proivded more than 1,450 hours for the event
Setting Up Incredible Teens for Success SUITS provides deserving young men in the East Valley with a suit and accessories for college interviews, job interviews, prom and various other social functions. The program targets young men, usually seniors, at Title I schools in Chandler, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe. This year 44 young men, selected by teachers and administrators from eighteen East Valley Schools, received a new suit and accessories, including shirt, tie, belt, shoes and socks. 9 volunteers provide service for this program.
Scholarships. East Valley Womens League awarded 11,550 in eight scholarships in 2023. The scholarships are awarded based on financial need, community service, and academic performance to students attending Arizona universities and community colleges. Many single, working mothers rely on these funds to pursue their dreams of a college education. Our Anything is Possible Scholarships are awarded to female students who exhibit service to the community, participate in extracurricular activities, demonstrate financial need and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Scholarships awarded through the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation are awarded to single mothers of any age who maintain a 2.8 GPA and demonstrate financial need. In addition, through our scholarship endowment at Arizona State University additional scholarships were awarded during the year. EVWL has given more than 299,500 in scholarships over the years. 8 volunteers provide 252 hours for the program
