Sailing and boating thru stem is the Foundation's program for elementary students, designed to help 5th graders understand the connection between their classroom learning, their local environment, future career options and their civic responsibilities as stewards of chesapeake bay. "class" modules include mechanical advantage, tides and currents, navigation wind, water ecology and invasive species and on the water observation and integration of on-the-land learning exercises.
Marine & maritime scholarship is a program which provides tuition scholarships of $1,000-$2,000 per academic year for high school graduates seeking to further their education in the marine and maritime fields. Scholarship recipients include students just out of high school as well as older students seeking to further their careers. Students attend trade-oriented schools as well as four-year learning institutions and come from the chesapeake bay region and beyond.
Maritime career awareness - career fair. Completing its 9th year in 2018, the career fair brings together representatives of local and national marine and maritime trades employers, educators and others with 6th through 12th graders in anne arundel county, from other Maryland counties and from Virginia, the district of columbia and Delaware. Students have the opportunity to speak with the men, women and student peers who can share first-hand information and experience on career paths that span apprenticeship, technical training and college degrees. Students also attend speaker sessions with mentors from a variety of stem careers and the marine and maritime trades.
Marine wizards is a biennial naming of select outstanding marine wizards in the greater annapolis area on the evening of the Eastport Yacht Club's spring cotillion. An outstanding marine wizard is defined as "someone who has outstanding marine skills that every boater wishes he or she had and offers these skills for hire!" Once named, a wizard remains a wizard throughout his/her career and a new class is added every two years.
Community support. Through various grants, the Foundation also supports numerous community-based programs, mostly for challenged youth, in the greater annapolis area including, but not limited to, the junior sailing program at the Eastport Yacht Club.
