in 2023, eco's offerings included: in-person eco and aves compartidas programming, climate action education, and place-based units.eco delivered programming at 18 schools in the portland metro region, introducing students to nature's ecosystems through classroom lessons, schoolyard experiences, and service-learning field trips. Eco and aves educators provided lessons and field trip programs to 123 Classrooms across five school districts. We implemented our proven hands-on education model reaching more than 3,600 k-12 students and engaging youth in 250 classroom lessons with over 6,000 hours spent in nature. Continued on schedule o.aves compartidas joined eco in september 2023. This spanish immersion program connects students from willamette valley, Oregon, with students from the laja river basin in mexico. Aves is designed by and for our communities to ensure our curriculum resonates with the culturally specific needs of our diverse audiences. Eco curriculum is hosted online at teach.ecologyoutdoors.org and aligns with next generation science standards, Oregon environmental literacy plan, and steam teaching targets. This platform enables us to reach urban as well as rural and underserved communities statewide and beyond. Collaborative partnerships with the wetlands conservancy, wisdom of the elders, this is my earth (time) and 12 secondary school teachers helped us develop and share open-source climate action education lessons. Eco's 14 place-based units are curriculum kits for k-5 elementary Classrooms that integrate science concepts across core subjects and support teachers with teacher guides, presentations, worksheets, games and hands-on materials.
