Program areas at Edison School of the Arts

Kennedy center summer Arts integration conference - the purpose of this conference is for attendees to reinforce previously learned strategies and learn new Arts integration strategies. the staff that attended are considered "strategy keepers" for Edison. These strategy keepers bring back strategies and ideas to share at staff professional development sessions throughout the School year. Attending this conference also allows Edison attendees to network with other teachers and School administrators who use Arts integration strategies as part of their curriculum.
During the 2022-2023, Edison School of the Arts 8th grade students surpassed the state's ela passing rate. We also had some significant gains in grade levels with ela and math.
the glow dance - the purpose of the glow dance party accomplished multiple goals, including promoting social interaction, fostering a sense of community, encouraging creativity, and providing a fun and memorable experience for students. the glow dance party allowed students to dance under ultraviolet and black lights while wearing clothing and accessories that glowed in the dark. the dance provided an opportunity for students to interact with their peers in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Students mingled with others they might not normally interact with. Volunteer parents worked together to decorate and chaperone the event. the dance party contributed to a sense of community within the School and created a positive atmosphere within the School environment. the energetic atmosphere of the dance had a ripple effect on the entire School. It uplifted spirits, created excitement, and contributed to a positive School culture.
