Program areas at Eight Mile Boulevard Association
Special projects: this program focuses on the maintenance of the Eight Mile medians and includes maintenance of perennial gardens, community identification signs, and coordination of mowing services.
Neighborhood task force: neighborhood task force provides support to neighborhood groups along the corridor for community cleanups, organizing and more. This year, Eight Mile Boulevard Association brought 300 volunteers together for community cleanups that included the restoration of two parks and one community garden in detroit; maintaining 36 perennial gardens in the Eight Mile medians, and removing more than 3 tons of litter and debris from sites across Eight Mile road.
Member services: this program encapsulates a wide variety of activities that provide support to the government and business members. Activities include a monthly e-newsletter, special projects, advocacy on behalf of members, and promoting members.
Economic development facade: this program provides design assistance and construction grants to business or property owners on Eight Mile road to help improve the appearance and value of both their property and the greater corridor. Leadership luncheon: this program is the Association's signature annual event and fundraiser. The leadership luncheon is held each spring and features a panel discussion and networking with the region's most powerful political leaders, including the mayor of detroit and the executives of macomb, oakland, and wayne counties. The event offers an affordable yet powerful networking opportunity for guests while also providing financial support for the Association's programs. The event brought together over 800 business owners and political leaders.
