Description
El Paso County Homeless Veterans Coalition assists homeless and needy veterans through their mission. They planned, organized, and conducted an annual Stand Down that took 123 veterans off the street. The event provided access to local services, benefits and counseling from the VA, medical screening, lunch, and free clothing. Additionally, their Transitional Housing Initiative (THI) program selected eight veterans plus family members off the street and placed them into a hotel until they could be helped with more permanent housing, jobs, and other necessities.
