Program areas at Elbow Reef Foundation
In partnership with the u.s. Ambassadors fund for cultural preservation, the Elbow Reef Foundation is in the process of restoring the Elbow Reef lighthouse in abaco, bahamas. In 2023, the Foundation began the lantern and metalworks restoration of the tower, stripped and repaired masonry work on the tower, and painted the tower. The Foundation has also assisted with raising funds for the restoration of the lighthouse outbuildings; including the keepers' quarters, verandas, walkaways, and flagpole. Future projects include completing the metalwork restoration, replacing slate floors, and assessing, cleaning, and maintain the operational systems of the lighthouse.
