Conservation saving protecting rietfontein farm Elephants braklaagt communitythe rietfontein farm got restored to the community of bahurutse boo sebogodi in the north west province, south africa, through the government land restitution program. Erp fitted the matriarch elephant with a tracking collar. The collar provides Erp elephant monitors with data about the movement of the herd. When the Elephants approach a certain area close to the community, identified community members, the responsible government department and Erp receive an immediate notification. The elephant monitors that are on the ground 24/7 then redirects the Elephants back to safety. The Erp further constructed an 11-kilometre game proof fence around the rietfontein game farm in order to provide a permanent solution to avoid any potential elephants/community conflict. As part of this intervention, about 15 employment opportunities were created for the unemployed youth of the braklaagte community.
