Description
Elpis Enterprises fosters youth employment and career pathway building through social enterprise. In 2022, we worked with 28 trainees (unduplicated), as well as reached out and provided guidance and support as needed to more than 30 graduates from 2021 and previous years. All our participants came to Elpis with lived experiences that resulted in or placed them at risk.

Program areas at Elpis Enterprises

In 2023, we worked with 35 trainees. Of the 35 trainees, we worked with: 32 trainees in one or more of our social enterprises5 trainees opted for an Earn and Learn (advanced) internship.Of trainees completing our social enterprise based training component:80% or more demonstrated improvement and/or proficiency in at least 10 of 12 employment readiness (soft) skills (e.g. accountability, responding to supervision)100% rated our program as "Excellent" (65%) or "Very Good" (35%). Of the trainees who completed our social enterprise based training, 90% achieved meaningful outcomes (immediate post-Elpis employment and/or continued their education relevant to career-related goals). Excluding a graduate with a health issue after completing our program, the percentage would be 100%.Of trainees who completed their Earn and Learn placement, 100% are earning above minimum wage. Since 2022, Earn and Learn trainees earned 23% to 55% above minimum wage in their initial post-Elpis position.Among trainees completing our program, 96% rated our program as "Excellent" (64% or "Very Good"(32%), with 85% stating they would recommend our program to others. Hands on Hope: Elpis's community engagement platform is our Hands on Hope component. It connects trainees and graduates to local businesses and their leaders to learn about career paths and post-Elpis opportunities. In 2023, 27 local businesses participated in our Hands on Hope events (e.g. quarterly networking events, presented at our weekly "trainee professional development seminar"), with some businesses participating more than once.
