Empowered

Under a grant from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education OSSE EmpowerEd continued to serve partner schools under their Educator Wellness Technical Assistance grants. In addition we expanded our own partnerships with many new DC schools to improve educator wellness and teacher retention. We have served 18 schools in total helping them to improve educator wellness and retention.

Educator-led advocacy and leadership development: Under this program we host an educator organizing fellowship that trains approximately 30 educators as policy leaders advocates and organizers to raise their voices on important education issues as they develop leadership skills to lead both at their schools and in our broader education system. We support this program and engage hundreds of additional educators as we advocate for policy changes to improve education in DC and raise awareness and educate the public about teacher retention and other issues. As a result of this work over the past year we have trained more than 30 educators and achieved significant victories like a flexible scheduling pilot for schools higher teacher pay grow your own programs and more.
