Program areas at Enabled Children Initiative
In 2023, ECI school enrolled 75 children with all types of disability. Out of the 75 students, 22 high-performing students were integrated into mainstream schools. All enrolled children received psychotherapy, physiotherapy and counselling services by the ECI team. ECIs Social Integration Program (SIP) Generated income and jobs for 20 disabled girls who received vocational training and work placements through the SIP. At Window of Hope, 29 abandoned children with disabilities provided with shelter, education and full-time care by ECI staff. Through the Community Based Disability Awareness and Support program (CBDASP) implemented in 6 provinces, ECI raised disability awareness among 7,022 local community members, Provided practical support to 600 families with a disabled child/ children and Referred 661 individuals with disabilities to partner organizations for services. In addition, the CBDASP produced and broadcasted 12 radio programs on disability, reaching 2,810,000 listeners nationwide. Through Emergency Relief funds, ECI provided emergency relief cash assistance to 100 families with children with disabilities affected by earthquakes in Herat province in October 2023.
