Program areas at Partnership for Gender Equality Equal Origins
The GEI is a free online diagnostic tool that provides coffee roasters and chocolate brands and their agricultural business partners a systematic way to identify their gender equity gaps in service provision, gain access to "right-fit" solutions and recommendations and build internal capacity to deliver services in a way that reaches and benefits women equally to men. The GEI diagnostic returns a comprehensive report with recommendations for how companies and their supply chain partners can improve their performance on gender equitable service provision. This resulting GEI report is the basis for building a Gender Equity Development Plan (GEDP), which becomes the company's roadmap for progress and communicating your efforts and advances to the market.
o
Virtual and on-site workshops leverage PGE's diagnostic tool and action-planning process to support progress along a "gender inclusive" development path. The Better Together Workshop series is a virtual orientation to the GEI approach which supports agricultural businesses including producer organizations (POs) to design credible Gender Equity Development Plans (GEDPs). Targeted support to POs includes design and improvement of gender policies, women's leadership programs and transformative Household Methodologies. Market access through Equal Origins' Buyer-Supplier Alliance web portal that promotes end-market investments in "inclusive" producer organizations on a credible path towards gender equity. Work in 2022 included POs in Colombia, Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Honduras.
