Program areas at Equines for Freedom

During 2022, 42 Military and First Responders with PTSD received equine-assisted treatment with a clinical therapist, equine specialist, and a horse in the arena with the client. Telehealth sessions were also available during the year, with 6 clients using the service for a total of 10 sessions. 18 new clients were assessed in 2022 with 3 choosing not to continue in the program. 8 veterans and 4 first responders graduated from the program in 2022. A group session is offered once a month to graduates who want a refresher. 28 clients were actively in treatment at the end of 2022. In 2022, Equines For Freedom received 6 horses on loan for use in the therapeutic program in exchange for their care. In previous years the horses used in the program were owned by another organization and their use was included in the rent paid to that organization.
