Resource Center for Nonviolence ProgramThe Resource Center for Nonviolence provides information and educational programming regarding antiracism and nonviolence by offering activities such as workshops, presentations, films and printed or digital information. Highlights for 2022 include five book circles on racial equity education attended by over 50 people, Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Day attended by over 200 people, Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Gathering attended by over 50 people, the Santa Cruz Reel Works Film Festival (an annual festival showing documentaries attended by over 150 people), an annual meeting celebration attended by over 160 people, installation of the Bodhi Tree Mosaic on our outside wall which over 500 people contributed to, and support for and operation of the Santa Cruz County United for Safe and Inclusive Community (SCCUSIC) which conducted four events during the United Against Hate Week attended by over 550 people, including 30 youth.
Other program services include support for the Palestine Justice Coalition and SCCCOR ($420), Reel Works Film Festival ($1,411), Printing and Support Fund, providing free or discounted printing for nonprofit organizations, government entities and organizations serving compatible goals to support outreach and educational activities ($20,955), and Black Health Matters Initiative ($44,337).
Santa Cruz Black Coalition empowers & sustains a prosperous & thriving Black community. Santa Cruz Black does this by building and advocating for fair & just policies, that promote increased access and equity in health, safety, & well being. Their activities included preparation and application to become a 501C3, a social mixer celebrating Ketanji Brown Jackson attended by over 200 people, three events open to the public attended by over 110 people, and a youth development program collaborative event attended by over 25 people.
