Program areas at New Mexico Fiber Arts Center
Sustainability: Fostering economic growth through building capacity. In retail this provides sales opportunity to artists, assures supplies for education programs and creates an outlet for local fiber-related goods. Developing shows and exhibitions for Fiber Artists; such as the annual Fall Fiber Fiesta, and managing in-house business initiatives expand income sources that support the day-to-day operation of EVFAC and provide economic opportunity for our Members.
Education: Building expertise in the Fiber Arts for adults and youth. Education portfolio includes a variety of classes, workshop and lectures on broad range of subjects in the Fiber Arts including; Walk in & Weave to attract tourists, and the Traveling Fiber Trunk to service youth. Education programs are offered both in-house and through outreach, by collaboration with established institutions and youth education organizations.
Community Engagement: Building awareness of, and participation in, the Fiber Arts and EVFAC. Actions include events and programs that assure everyone within the Fiber Ecosystem is involved, from shepherds to artists to visitors; while offering opportunities to local businesses. Activities are open to the public with the objective to engage broader audiences, as well as target the tourism industry.
