Program areas at Esperanza Health Center
Since our founding in 1989, Esperanza has been committed to providing access to affordable, high-quality bilingual Health care and wellness services as we pursue Health with our patients and our community. Our three Health Center sites in north philadelphia (fifth street, hunting park, and kensington) are conveniently located for easy access. Services include primary medical care for adults and children, dental care, prenatal care, behavioral Health services, on-site medication dispensaries, social services assistance, and other services. Community Health and wellness programs are open to all residents. Esperanza Health Center is recognized as a federally qualified Health Center (fqhc) by the u.s. department of Health and human services, Health resources and services administration, bureau of primary Health care. During the calendar year 2023, ehc delivered primary care services to more than 13,501 patients. These patients accounted for 47,426 medical visits in family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and orthopedics. In addition, there were 5,643 behavioral Health visits, and 6,757 dental visits. Approximately 55% of patient services revenue was reimbursed through medicaid insurance coverage, 9% by medicare, 5% by private/commercial insurance and self-pay from patients who have neither public or private insurance coverage, and 30% from 340b medication dispensary. All of ehc's patients without insurance coverage are eligible for a discount for the patient's share of financial responsibility, as defined by ehc's sliding fee discount scale. This scale, which is based on the patient's family size/demonstrated household income, is adjusted annually to reflect the most current federal poverty guidelines.
