Este Poder empowers, educates, and mobilizes rural communities of color in East Texas through its non-partisan nonprofit mission. It establishes partnerships with school districts to ensure they have the resources necessary for civic engagement programs and equips young people with tools to get involved. Este Poder also promotes civic engagement in rural colleges and universities, partners with local churches, and hosts monthly voter registration events.

Program areas at Este Poder

Young Texans Civic Engagement: Este Poder focuses on individuals aged 17-35 by partnering with East Texas high schools to equip young people, including college students, with civic engagement tools to instill lifelong active participation. Additionally, Este Poder student fellows continuously organize in the region's largest colleges to promote this engagement.
Advocacy: We focus on local government through legislative informational and educational needs. We want to encourage our community's presence in city council meetings and school board meetings.
Engaging East Texas: We are committed to identifying and addressing challenges faced by our community, which is why we strive to meet our communities where they are.
