Neighborhood services programthe long-term goal is to create a welcoming, hospitable neighborhood for visitors, commuters, shoppers, and workers. The program largely started in june 2023.2023 neighborhood services program activities: (1) neighborhood ambassadors welcomed people to the neighborhood, checked on the welfare of people in need on the street, picked up litter and removed graffiti, and reported potential safety issues; (2) overnight patrol monitored for safety issues and people in crisis living on the streets; and (3) conducted other neighborhood enhancement program development for future years.measurable results: - 62 welfare checks with people-in-need. - distributed 89 naloxone kits to people-in-need. - led 3 volunteer community cleanups. - 150 bags of debris and trash removed each month, on average. - reported 273 places of graffiti, with 78% getting addressed. - 195 business check-ins
Community development programthe long-term goal is to create an equitable transit-oriented community. Our organization's vision statement says: "the Everett Station District neighborhood will be a vital economic engine for the region; a major regional transit hub; a home for industry and residents; a great place to live, work, and play; and a model for how natural systems can flourish in an urban context, supporting human health and resilience. "2023 activities: (1) facilitated the community installation of four murals; (2) converted a street into a park for the summer and activated it with public events; (3) began early stages of creating a workforce development program; and (4) convened neighborhood stakeholders to envision the future of the neighborhood with the future arrival of link light rail.measurable results: - the conversion of a street into a park from june - september. - 4 murals - 1 design workshop with older adults - neighborhood town hall day with 40+ nonprofits, public agencies, and businesses. - 6 wednesday farmers markets - 12+ friday music concerts - 1 mini food truck rodeo - covid-19 vaccination event - photos with santa event - piano concert series at Everett Station - study & survey performed to recommend structure of future workforce development program.
