Program areas at Extra Mile Student Center
Student Leadership Team - Students apply for and are interviewed for a position. Student Leaders meet every other week to learn about leadership, plan events, evaluate, and work on skills. The Student Leaders oversee the snack counter area and manage the snack counter. Some of the leaders serve as tutors/mentors for younger students. Leaders often are asked to give presentations to Rotary Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Donors, and other groups.
Summer Workshop Program - Offer week-long workshops in Music, Photography, Golf, and Art to students in grades 7-12. Students are offered instruction and hand-on projects. Each day, students are provided a meal as part of the program.
Success Connection Tutoring and Mentoring Program - This is our tutoring and mentoring program for students in grades 7-12. Tutoring is provided free and we enlist the help of volunteers in the community. Success Connection meets Tuesday and Thursday and includes a free meal. Students are awarded points for attending and working which they can exchange for prizes in the incentive store.
